Wheel Thrown
The most demanding form of craftsmanship that celebrates the skill and dedication of a ceramicist. Predominantly a technique used for round pieces, it is a technical skill only acquired with time and repetition. Soft clay is centred on the spinning wheel, then pulled and formed by hand and finally shaped with tools. Pieces are left to a bone dry state before the bases are turned and refined — A specialist technique exclusive to turning porcelain, developed by the potters of Jingdezhen for the precise execution of details. Each piece is hand-formed, and subtle throwing marks are purposefully left to tell a story unique to each piece.
